SUBJECT: ENSURING SAFETY MEASURES DURING CONSTRUCTION WORKS UNDER SMU PROJECT IN SCHOOLS IN DISTRICT RAHIM YAR KHAN.
It is observed with grave concerned that construction/renovation works under the SMU Project are being carried out in various schools of District Rahim Yar Khan. Since these works are being executed within or in the vicinity of educational institutions, the safety of students, teaching/non-teaching staff and workers must be ensured at all times.
You are, therefore, hereby directed to ensure strict compliance with the following safety measures at all construction sites during the execution of SMU Project works:

1. Segregation of Construction Area:
The construction site shall be properly cordoned off/fenced and clearly separated with Green Sheets through contractors from areas being used by students and staff.
2. No Entry for Students:
Students shall not be allowed to enter construction areas under any circumstances. Proper warning signs such as “DANGER – CONSTRUCTION AREA – NO ENTRY” shall be displayed prominently.
3. Safe Movement of Students:
Alternative safe routes shall be provided wherever construction activities affect the normal movement of students and staff.
4. Construction Material:
Bricks, cement, steel, sand, gravel, machinery and other construction materials shall be stored at designated locations and shall not obstruct classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, entrances or emergency exits.
5. Electrical Safety:
Exposed electrical wires, temporary connections and electrical equipment at construction sites shall be properly insulated, secured and kept beyond the reach of students.
6. Excavations and Openings:
All pits, trenches, excavations and other openings shall be properly barricaded and covered to prevent accidents.
7. Machinery and Tools:
Construction machinery, tools and equipment shall be kept in secure locations when not in use and shall remain inaccessible to students
